Circus Art Creation Challenge
As artists of various forms (with likely a lot more time on our hands) we would like to offer our community an opportunity to participate in a Circus Art Creation Challenge. We are accepting applications from artists of all-ages to use some of this time to create in a new way, and show love for our community of movement-creationists. Circus has a long history, and artists have, for centuries tried to capture the beauty, color, the extravagant and the seemingly-impossible feats that the circus offers. At The Aerial Lab, we LOVE to showcase art, and appreciate the inspiration that it brings, in all forms.
This creation opportunity will be multi-faceted. Your art will be donated to The Aerial Lab’s Art Fundraiser Auction, and it’ll be submitted into a competition to be voted on to become our representative new studio image. Our next showcase will be in May 2021 - all art will be displayed in the studio ahead of time, voters will choose their favorite piece for our new studio image, and all guests (art-appreciators invited) will be able to bid on all works of art in our Online Art Fundraiser Auction. Any art not purchased, will be displayed at The Aerial Lab, forever! All funds will be utilized to assist us in keeping the circus arts in Grass Valley, and to purchase new aerial equipment for our expansion – YOU can help The Aerial Lab recover from these months of closure, and the effects of COVID-19, simply by getting creative.
There are no limits to what medium you can use to create. We will accept watercolor, acrylic, crayons, sculpture, digital, ceramics, pastels, photography, nature art, embroidery, crochet, the list is endless….but art must be presented professionally. Images must be submitted either on canvas, or framed, and be ready to be hung. 3D images must be able to stand independently, or submitted with a stand for presentation.
Art work MUST be your own (of course, kids, if your parents want to help that’s fine!), but please do not plagiarize (copy) existing artwork. If working from an image of someone, please obtain their permission first.
Age categories:
All art must be bought to the studio by April 1st at THE LATEST. Any art that arrives before then will be displayed on our wall for everyone to see (increasing its chances of being bid upon!)
If you would like to participate, please fill out our “intent to create” form on the website, by clicking below. You may submit up to a maximum of 3 works of art!
